Seneca announces change in staff, options

Housing and child care — two of the hard-to-find commodities in Plumas County — has led to the loss of a healthcare professional in the Lake Almanor Basin.

Seneca Healthcare District announced the resignation of Physician’s Assistant Sonia Troxell. “Sonia’s decision to resign was due to unforeseen circumstances surrounding the ability to find reliable housing and child care,” read a statement issued Nov. 22. It went on to say: “Seneca supports the personal needs of all our staff and wishes Sonia all the best in future endeavors.”

Seneca is recruiting a replacement provider and advised her patients that they hope to have someone in place soon. In the meantime Dr. Daniel Cooper is accepting new patients; his office number is 530-258-3750. Or, they may go to the Lake Almanor Walk-In Clinic, which is open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Closed for lunch from noon – 1p.m.) To contact the walk-in clinic call 530-258-2826.
