Sheriff orders portion of Feather River Canyon evacuated: 70 closed westbound at the Wye
UPDATE: 7:15 a.m.: Previous evacuations remain in place and Highway 70 is closed westbound at the Greenville Wye (junction of Highway 70 and 89).
UPDATE 9:10 p.m.: The Butte County Sheriff’s Office has expanded the Canyon evacuations, adding the areas of Pulga, Concow, Big Bend and Yankee Hill.
The Plumas County Sheriff’s Office has issued a mandatory evacuation order for a portion of the Feather River Canyon tonight, Sunday, Sept. 27, from the Plumas/Butte County Line east to Tobin due to the North Complex Fire. This includes the communities of Tobin and Storrie. Residents should use Highway 70 and those in need of assistance may proceed to Quincy High School where an evacuation assembly point has been established.
The fire was very active this afternoon amid the Red Flag and wind warnings. Firefighters are busy trying to put out an established spot fire.
