Sheriff releases name of fire victim

The Plumas County Sheriff’s Office released the name today of the victim from last Friday’s house fire in Indian Valley as that of Eloise Cadenhead, 32. Firefighters responded to a structure fire at around 3 a.m., Friday, May 3, off Genesee Road in Indian Valley.

According to Tony Balbiani, fire chief of the Indian Valley Fire Department, the first unit on scene found a fully involved and collapsed structure on fire. The fire also burned about a half acre into the wildland.

Investigations Sergeant Steve Peay, from the Sheriff’s Office, said that the fire burned the home, the victim’s vehicle and some outbuildings. He said the cause of the fire does not appear to be suspicious.

Indian Valley Fire was assisted by personnel from Quincy Fire, Prattville Fire, CalFire, Plumas National Forest, PHI and CareFlight Ground.
