Sheriff’s Office pays tribute to former Sheriff Don Stoy

The Plumas County Sheriff’s Office announced tonight that former Sheriff Don Stoy died today and released a statement on Facebook, which they shared with Plumas News.

The statement read: We are deeply saddened to report the passing of retired Plumas County Sheriff Donald E. Stoy. Sheriff Stoy was a true pillar of our community, dedicating his life to serving and protecting the people of Plumas County for over three decades.

As we mourn his loss, we are grateful for his years of service and his unwavering commitment to keeping our community safe. Sheriff Stoy was not only a skilled law enforcement officer, but also a compassionate leader who cared deeply about the well-being of those he served.

Sheriff Todd Johns said, “It was a privilege working with Sheriff Stoy during his time as Sheriff, and I can attest to his professionalism, integrity, and dedication. He was a true public servant, always putting the needs of his community first. On behalf of myself, the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office, and the entire community, I extend my deepest condolences to Sheriff Stoy’s family and friends during this difficult time. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the positive impact he had on our community. Rest in Peace Sheriff Stoy.”
