Sign-ups underway for youth basketball
The Central Plumas Recreation and Park District’s youth basketball sign-ups are underway.
The league is open to third- through eighth-grade boys and girls. The third/fourth grade league will practice and hold games weeknights at Quincy High School. The fifth through eighth grade leagues will be competing in Portola, Loyalton, Chester and Downieville. They will practice on weeknights and play games on Saturdays.
The deadline to register is Friday, Nov. 9 and practices will begin Monday, Nov. 15. There will be a $15 late fee for registration accepted past the deadline.
Registration is available at the district office, 34 Fairground Road in Quincy, or online at cprpd.com under the programs and activities page. For more information, call the rec district at (530) 283-3278.
Volunteer coaches and assistants are needed in all divisions, and will teach basketball fundamentals, skills, and concepts while promoting teamwork and good sportsmanship.
The district encourages early and prompt registration in the effort to formulate teams for practices.
