For those who haven’t had the opportunity to drive around Indian Valley or along Highway 89 toward the Greenville Wye, are missing some beauty. Reporter Meg Upton gathered these photos taken by local photographer Anna Lawson to be shared. More will be posted in the August issue of High Country Life, marking the second anniversary of the fire.
The first winter after the fire, Wolf Creek 4-H sold wildflower seeds and many remaining residents and the children set about the task of scattering the seeds around the area. This effort, coupled with other efforts along the highway have helped make spring and summer 2023 abundant in wildflower. You can hear residents remark that no one can remember a spring and summer with so many flowers. The poppies along highway 89 leading up to the Greenville Wye have been particularly astounding.
