Student achievers receive honors
Two top-achieving Greenville students received the Principal’s Recognition Award when they were honored March 11 during the Plumas Unified School District’s Governing Board of Trustees meeting held at Greenville Junior-Senior High School.
At their regular monthly meetings, school board members often take time to meet and congratulate exceptional pupils who do well academically and “accomplish great things in and out of school,” and this month they met Kelsey Metcalf and Aubrey Page.
Principal Traci Cockerill had the pleasure of introducing both students to the trustees and County Office of Education staff and she emphasized that every student’s success is due to the support and encouragement they receive from their families at home.

“Kelsey Metcalf is the daughter of Carlie and Steven Metcalf and she is a sixth-grade student at Greenville Elementary School,” GES Principal Cockerill told the board, describing Kelsey as an outstanding student.
“She has a drive to complete tasks even when they are difficult for her and her perseverance is second to none,” Cockerill said, presenting the student with her Principal’s Recognition Award. “Kelsey is very sweet and kind to her peers as well. She is an amazing student.”

Cockerill also serves as principal of the junior-senior high campus and she bestowed the high school Principal’s Recognition Award upon junior Aubrey Page, an exemplary student at Greenville High.
“Aubrey is the daughter of Scott Cantrell,” Principal Cockerill told the school board members, describing the young woman as a dedicated student who impresses her teachers and others. “She is a member of our Culinary Team and also one of our servers at our weekly Makin’ & Bakin’ Restaurant. Aubrey receives many compliments regarding her customerservice.”
Earning the recognition
According to the school district, the Principal’s Recognition Award honors outstanding pupils who display the characteristics promoted in the Governing Board’s adopted vision and mission statements.
The principal of each school chooses students for the recognition based upon their demonstration of personal achievement and the skills necessary to be self-directed, productive and responsible citizens.
