Temporary forest service land closures due to Sheep Fire

Plumas and Lassen National Forest officials have enacted a temporary forest closure order through Oct. 31, 2020, for national forest land and roads within the Sheep Fire area.

“There is active and smoldering fire, rolling debris, and a lot of firefighting traffic,” said Chris Carlton, Plumas National Forest Supervisor. He noted the closure will be in place 24-hours/day due to the unsafe conditions.

Those exempt from the order include: 1) any Federal, State or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty; 2) persons with Forest Service Permit No. FS-7700-48 (Permit for Use of Roads, Trails, or Areas Restricted by Regulation or Order), specifically exempting them from this Order; and, 3) owners or lessees of land in the Sheep Fire Closure Area, to the extent necessary to access their land. The Forest Order includes both Plumas (#05-11-02-20-14) and Lassen (#06-20-10) Forest Order numbers.
