The American Legion wants you

The local American Legion Post 568 wants to grow its numbers and there are flyers around Indian Valley attempting to get more residents involved. Local member Marj Goosey said it’s time the local post grows.

The American Legion now has new eligibility. Anyone who served active duty in any U.S. Armed Forces branch since December 7, 1941, and was honorably discharged or is still serving is eligible.

The local post meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m., at their building at 430 Main St., Greenville.

The group’s mission statement is: “It is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow service members and veterans.”
