Thomas Edward Lusby was born on June 3, 1954 in Santa Cruz, CA and passed away on April 19, 2022 at Plumas District Hospital after a short but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Tom moved to Quincy in 1994 at the age of 40 and he never left this area. Prior to that he resided in St. Helens, OR, as well as the California cities of Capitola, Aptos and Santa Cruz.
Tom worked briefly at the Mt. Hough Golf Course in Crescent Mills. In 1996, he became a golf pro at the Graeagle Meadows Golf Course and this year would have marked his 26th season there. He enjoyed interacting with the public, assisting customers and giving lessons to help golfers improve their game.
Besides being an avid golfer, Tom was a huge Raider fan and weight lifting and gardening were his passions. If not found in his garage lifting, he would be in the yard working on his masterpiece. Proudly, his efforts were recognized with the home being featured on the Soroptimist Garden Tour during the summer of 2018. He spent many days working with his grandchildren teaching them the correct techniques of weight lifting and healthy body building.
Tom loved boating at Bucks Lake and playing horseshoes on the beach. As a young adult, he water skied at Don Pedro Lake near Santa Cruz. His family would travel from Santa Cruz to Lake Almanor to camp and enjoy the water there during the summer. Uncle Stan Dakan introduced the family to the area.
An appreciation for wine tasting developed through his love of life, Charlotte Smith. Tom and Charlotte enjoyed many wine tasting adventures throughout California and Oregon in the 16 years they shared together. Entertaining guests and hosting family celebrations were something he absolutely loved to do.
Tom was considered a kind, funny, mischievous, athletic and handsome man. He will be missed by many.
