Tourism association offering grants for special events

The Feather River Tourism Association (FRTA) is offering micro-region grants up to $2,500 for special events to bring visitors to Plumas County, resulting in increased room nights for lodging providers.  If you have a great idea for an event but need some extra funding to pull it off, including funds for promotion and marketing, this pot of money could be right for your business or organization.

The purpose of the Grant program is to promote eligible tourism activities or infrastructure development that will increase overnight stays with lodging providers within the Feather River Tourism Marketing District (FRTMD). The source of these funds come from the 2 percent assessment lodging providers collect from guests. The FRTMD Management Plan targets 37 percent of the assessments received to be distributed back to the communities within the District in the form of grants.

The grant information and application is located on the Feather River Tourism Association website under grants. The application deadline has been extended to June 15, 2022. An additional round of grants will be offered in the Fall.

The regions within the District that qualify for grant funding are as follows:

  • Quincy, Bucks Lake, and Feather River Canyon
  • Lake Almanor Basin and Indian Valley

Off season events from October – May are preferable but other events will be considered.
