Traffic stop in Chester results in arrest on multiple charges
A Plumas County Sheriff’s deputy conducted a traffic stop on Main Street in Chester on April 27 at approximately 6:30 p.m. It was determined that Jayce Coulter, 36, of Cottonwood, Calif., was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license and was arrested.
During an inventory of the vehicle prior to it being impounded, deputies located a concealed handgun with the serial number partially obliterated, approximately half a pound of methamphetamine packaged for sales, cocaine, and a scale. It was determined Coulter is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Coulter was additionally charged with: prohibited person in possession of a firearm, possession of a concealed firearm, possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, possession of controlled substance for sale, and transportation of a controlled substance. Coulter also was found to have three warrants for his arrest from Shasta County.
Coulter was transported to the Plumas County Correctional Center and is being held on $35,000 bail.
The case will be forwarded to the Plumas County District Attorney’s Office for review.
