Train derails near Twain
Union Pacific and Burlington Northern railroads notified the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office of a train derailment near Twain in the Feather River Canyon at 2:49 a.m. on Saturday, June 10. A railroad spokesman said 13 cars of a 74-car train derailed in the upright position.
The Sheriff’s Office and the Office of Emergency Services dispatched personnel to the incident and found no hazardous conditions on site. The railroad is now clearing the area. The cause of the the derailment is still under investigation.
