Trojans travel to Northeast Classic

Our Quincy Trojans went to the Northeast Classic Wrestling Tournament at Modoc High School in Alturas on Dec. 14. “We are hitting the season hard,” said assistant wrestling coach Russell Nickerson, Sr. “We ended the weekend very strong with five of the seven wrestlers placing.”

The QHS team has a full line up of tournaments scheduled for the next few weeks. Dec. 21 they traveled to Lovelock, Nevada, for the Pershing County Wrestling Tournament.

Just after the holiday they plan to compete in the Sierra Nevada Classic on Dec. 26 through the 28.

The seventh annual Joe Rios Memorial Tournament takes place in Chico on Jan. 3 and 4, and the Trojans will host the Quincy Duals on Jan. 8 starting at noon.

“We also received the Team Sportsmanship Award at the (Northeast) Tournament and Head Coach Cody Clayton was given the Coach Sportsmanship Award,” said Nickerson, Sr.
