Two council seats coming up for election at City of Portola city hall

The City of Portola City Council will have two four-year term seats coming up for election on the upcoming November 8 ballot. The seats are currently held by Council members Phil Oels and Bill Powers.

The nomination period for the elected positions opened on Monday, July 18 and closes on Friday, August 12.

The Portola City Council is composed of five council members elected to staggered four-year terms. There is an election each November of even numbered years with either two or three seats up for election. The council selects a mayor and a mayor pro tem from among its members to serve year terms.

The City of Portola will also have both the position of city clerk and city treasurer up for election, with both of the positions also four-year terms.

Election packets for interested parties that may wish to run for a seat to serve on the Portola City Council will be made available for pick-up at The City of Portola City Hall, located at 35 Third Avenue in Portola.
