Vaccines for children as young as 6 months available in Plumas

The FDA has granted emergency use authorization of the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines for children as young as 6 months and the vaccines are now available in Plumas County through Plumas County Public Health and healthcare providers.

There are currently three different COVID-19 vaccines available to the public:

The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine has full FDA approval for people aged 16 and older and emergency use authorization for people aged 6 months to 15 years old.*
2-dose series (two doses, three weeks apart and a booster for those aged 5-15)
3-dose series (second dose given three weeks after first dose, third dose given eight weeks after second dose for those aged 6 months to 4 years)
The Moderna vaccine has full FDA approval for people aged 18 and older, and emergency use authorization for people aged 6 months to 17 years old.*
2-dose series (two doses, four weeks apart and a booster if eligible)
The Johnson & Johnson vaccine has emergency use authorization for people aged 18 and older. One-dose series (one dose and a booster if eligible).
The FDA has expanded the emergency use authorization for both mRNA vaccines, Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna, for immunocompromised individuals. This authorization covers people aged 5 and older receiving treatments associated with moderate to severe immune compromise. People should talk to their healthcare provider about their medical condition and whether getting an additional dose is appropriate for them.
Vaccines and boosters are available at the below locations for children (5 years and up) and adults. Vaccine for children 6 months old up to 5 years old are only available at Plumas County Public Health or from your child’s primary care provider at this time in Plumas County.
