Volunteer orientation June 4 for Friends of Plumas County Animals
Submitted by Friends of Plumas County Animals
Hello everyone! Last Sunday, Friends held an orientation for those interested in volunteering at the new rescue. Happily, it was very well attended and lots of interest in helping the animals was generated.
There will be a second Volunteer Orientation on Saturday, June 4 at noon at the rescue site for those who could not attend last weekend. All are welcome to come and learn about what can be done to help the animals that will be coming to our door. Shifts are 2 or 4 hours in length, day or evening and can be once a month or several times a week-whatever time you are able and willing to donate.
We expect to be compliant with all County regulations by June 15 and hopefully, will be accepting animals in for rehoming at that time. We have a list of animals that will be released to our rescue when we are legally able to accept them and it grows daily.
Sadly, most of the calls we are getting are desperate pleas for help with feral mothers and kittens — LOTS of kittens!! We will be accepting animals slowly — maybe 5 per week — until the rescue limit is reached (that number depends on number of volunteers to help care for the animals and the health condition of those coming in for care). Please do not come to the rescue door with cats or kittens as the volunteers will not be able to accept animals, but contact Rose directly at 530-927-8057 if you have an animal that will need a new home. We do not have a facility that can house feral cats, but will work with you to trap, spay and release her and take her kittens into care. We will need advance notice to prepare for the animals so please be patient as we try to accommodate as many animals as we can in an orderly manner.
Meantime, remember the date for the Volunteer Orientation. Hope to see you there!
