Winter storm headed to Lassen, Plumas and Sierra counties
The National Weather Service announced a winter storm watch will be in effect from Friday afternoon through late Sunday night above 5,000 feet in western Plumas County/Lassen park and eastern Plumas and Sierra counties.
Heavy snow is possible and travel will be difficult to impossible. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 3 feet with localized amounts up to 5 feet are possible in western Plumas County/Lassen Park. Potential snow accumulations of up to 6 inches at the lower elevations in eastern Plumas; 8 to 18 inches west of Highway 395 above 5,000 feet possible.
Significant reductions in visibility are possible. Wind gusts Friday night and early Saturday could top 50 mph in some locations.
An additional storm could bring another round of heavy snows Sunday into Monday, with lower snow levels expected.
