Winter storm warning for Plumas and surrounding counties
The National Weather Service announced that a winter storm warning remains in effect from 4 p.m. this afternoon until 4 a.m. Monday in Plumas, Lassen and Sierra counties.
Heavy snow is expected and travel will be difficult to impossible. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches in the foothills and 2 to 4 feet above 3,000 feet with localized amounts up to 5 feet in western Plumas County/Lassen Park are expected. The public is warned that whiteout conditions are possible.
Potential snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches are expected above 5,000 feet in eastern Plumas County. Significant reductions in visibility are expected. Strong winds are also expected, which could topple trees.
