Winter storm warning in effect through Saturday morning at 4 a.m.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the Sierra due to heavy mountain snow and low elevation foothill snow through Saturday morning at 4 a.m. In addition to snow accumulations of 1 to 3 feet, winds gusting as high as 70 mph are expected. Travel is predicted to be very difficult to impossible. Snow levels are expected to be 4,000 to 5,000 feet today, but lowering to 1,000 to 2,000 feet overnight and through Friday.
