With Ryan “RJ” on the Mound, Quincy Trojans shut out Chester Volcanoes
Ryan “RJ” James shut down the Chester Varsity Volcanoes, throwing a complete game shutout and leading the Quincy Varsity Trojans to a 10-0 victory on Friday, March 17 in Sparks, Nevada since all of the local ball fields are covered with snow.
The Trojans opened up scoring in the first inning; an error scored one run for Quincy.
Quincy notched four runs in the second inning. The Trojans put the pressure on, led by doubles by Ethan Crespo and Jake Lees, and a single by Jake Thackeray.
A double by Jacob Dowling in the second inning was a positive for Chester.
James was the winning pitcher for Quincy. The right-hander allowed two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out six.
Kooper Clark led things off on the pitcher’s mound for Chester. The bulldog allowed three hits and five runs over two innings, striking out five. Jax Holland threw two innings out of the bullpen.
Quinton Vert went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Quincy in hits.
