Youth soccer sign-ups going on now

The Central Plumas Recreation and Park District is accepting registration for the 2023 Youth Soccer League. This instructional league will teach soccer fundamentals in a fun, recreational atmosphere. Volunteer coaches will focus on skill development, physical fitness, rules, game strategy, good sportsmanship, and team play.

Players will be placed into one of the following divisions based on their age according to US Youth Soccer guidelines: U6, U8, U10, U12, or U14. Games will be played on Saturday mornings at Feather River College, with the U10, U12, and U14 divisions also traveling to Portola, Chester, and Loyalton for league games.

Anyone who may be interested in volunteering to be a coach or referee is encouraged to contact the Recreation District, as coaches and referees are needed. “We want to encourage all participants, no matter their skill level, to come sign up to play youth soccer. The fall soccer league is a blast and a great opportunity for our youth to enjoy all of the benefits playing a sport has to offer,” stated league coordinator James Shipp.

The deadline for registrations is Sunday, Aug. 20. Registrations will be accepted at the Recreation District office, 34 Fairground Road, and online at cprpd.com under the “Programs & Activities” page. Please call the Recreation District at 283-3278 for more information on Youth Soccer and other CPRPD programs.
