Public Hearing, Fire Hazard Severity Zones map

January 17 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Office of the State Fire Marshal is undergoing a regulatory adoption process to update the existing map that captures Fire Hazard Severity Zones (FHSZ), which is a comprehensive map that ranks California’s State Responsibility Area (SRA) — or rural, unincorporated areas — based on the likelihood different areas will experience wildfire. The last time SRA maps were updated statewide was 2007.

CAL FIRE and Plumas County invites you to a Public Hearing to learn more and comment:

Date: 1/17/23   Time: 6:00 – 8:00 PM

Location: Plumas Sierra County Fairgrounds, Mineral Building, 204 Fairgrounds Road, Quincy, CA 95971.

For more information on the process and to determine the FHSZ of a property, the public can search an address using the FHSZ Viewer at osfm.fire.ca.gov/FHSZ.

For ease in review of the CAL FIRE news release, FAQ, notice, proposed text changes to the regulations, initial statement of reasons, and the proposed Plumas County SRA FHSZ Map, view on the Plumas County Planning Department homepage at https://www.plumascounty.us/89/Planning-Department.

The public may submit comments (by February 3, 2023) to [email protected] or written comments may be submitted by U.S. mail to the following address: Office of the State Fire Marshal C/O: FHSZ Comments California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection
P.O. Box 944246 Sacramento, CA 94244-2460.
