The Feather River College’s Spring Fund Raiser – Wild West Mystery Dinner Theatre – was a huge success thanks to the helping hands of many good folks who donated their time, effort and baskets of amazing goodies for the silent auction and scrumptious pies and cakes for our dessert auction!  HUGE THANKS go to so many including:  Adam and Tara Mazaella, owners of Grocery Outlet for providing an amazing array of tri-tip, chicken and ribs and Oran and Michelle Morrison, Marcie and Tim Demartille for fixin’ it to perfection!  Nancy Gambell whipped up her award winning slaw, corn, beans and buns to the delight of all!  In addition, we must thank Sean Conry and US Foods for their amazing support. There warn’t an empty belly in the barn that night!  We also had an outstanding buffet of desserts – thanks to just about everyone in town who baked, bought and otherwise made possible a whole slew of sweets, to top off dinner.
The silent auction was one of the stars of the night – thanks to the Feather River College Rodeo Team.  We had about 25 baskets of the most amazing goodies including a “fishing basket with rod and reel and other goodies; we had bar-b-q baskets with sauces, spices and utensils; we had a gorgeous hand-made bracelet with horsehair and hand tooled metal by Judy Dailey; we had a birdhouse from our own Pondside Nesters; we had amazing artwork from students, oils and drawings, and a welded horseshoes; we had a beef jerky drying rack that raked in some big dollars too!  The list goes on with the array of prizes that the Rodeo students, under the supervision of their one-of-a-kind Coach and leader, Tess Turk provided to the event.  In addition to garnering prizes galore, the students help set-up, serve, monitor, run, tend, and clean up the event with the speed of Seabiscuit!  We couldn’t have done it without y’all!
Triple Threat Productions put on a really big show!  Thank you to Tina Terrazas, Kim Carroll, Wayne Bauer, Michelle Fulton, Julia Sidman, Dean Oertle, Danielle and Bryan Plocki – you never disappoint!  A HUGE SHOUTOUT to Peaches the Mini Donkey for her debut performance.
Many thanks to the Foundation Planning Committee:  Dean Oertle, Tess Turk, Nancy Gambell, Beth Reid, Sara Frigo, Kris Miravalle and Lisa Kelly for your time and effort – whatta crew!  Thanks to our bartenders, Beth and Russell Reid as well as those amazing Rodeo students.  The door to the barn was humming and if not for the wit and wisdom of Allexa Parham, y’all might still be waiting to get in!  Allexa, who rocked our table-scapes also womaned our “greetin’ table” like it was nobody’s business with the  assistance of Kris Miravalle and again…you guessed it…our Rodeo students (they were everywhere)!  Thank you to Frank and Amy and the crew at Quincy Provisions for selling tickets for this and every other event we host – you are true “pardners!”
In all, twas an evening at the Barn that will not soon be forgotten.  The Feather River College Foundation wishes to send out a giant THANK YOU to our friends, family and community for joining us in our effort to raise money for students in the way of mini-grants and scholarships.  It is the mission of the Foundation to support the College, it’s students and sustain the connection to our most special Plumas County community.  Plumas – without your support, we wouldn’t be able to do what we love doing – supporting student success!  Our hats go off to YOU!
