A pleasant July in the Basin

The Lake Almanor Basin enjoyed very seasonable weather during the month of July. There were no storms, which also means that there were no dry lightning threats to local vegetation.

Temperatures were close to the long-term average, with our average low about a degree warmer and our average high about a degree cooler.

Especially pleasant was the fact that there were no extreme high temperatures during the month; the highest recorded figure at Chester airport was 92 degrees.

August temperatures historically average about a degree cooler than July so with any luck we are now past our hottest period of the year.

Dry conditions typically prevail through August and into part of September.
