Generally speaking, dry weather continued through August for the Lake Almanor Basin. There were a few sporadic showers during the month, but the coverage was spotty. One location might get a wee bit of rain while another nearby location remained dry. Given such a scarce amount it’s hardly worth mentioning.
Temperatures were warmer than average, but there were no record setting highs.
Our average low temperature during August was 46.0 degrees, while our average high was 87.1 degrees. Both figures are a couple of degrees warmer than the long-term average for the month.
Our peak August temperature was 97 degrees, registered at Chester airport on Aug. 27.
September typically brings us cooling temperatures and the possibility of a few showers. However, we usually have to wait until October or later to really experience any significant wet weather.
