Whitewater adventures virtually? Why not! The annual whitewater Feather Fest hosted by American Whitewater is still on the calendar but is taking a different shape for 2020. The adventure group plans to have the Feather Festival virtually Wednesday, Oct. 7, starting at 7 p.m.

The event will be presented as an American Whitewater membership drive with prize drawings, presentations and music. “We have confirmed participation of Boot Juice for some virtual good music, Cali Collective, Dan Menten and have plans for a virtual foam boating race,” said American Whitewater California Stewardship Director Theresa L. Simsiman. “Of course we could still use any help volunteers are willing to provide. I am mostly looking for folks who can help AW get the word out, may have any ideas/contacts for local presenters and could help find sponsors willing to add to our prizes for drawings.”

The annual event takes place on the Feather River with specialty classes, races and gatherings of fans of the wild Feather River each autumn in Plumas County. Class II through Class V rapids make the Feather Fest on the Feather River a destination for boaters every year. Volunteers pull the event together each year for hundreds of boaters. Anyone interested in assisting with the virtual event Oct. 7 for 2020 is invited to attend planning meetings via zoom. For more information call (916) 835-1460.
