Aug. 19: Public Health reports 36 new cases

The Plumas County Public Health Agency announced this evening, Aug. 19, that there are 36 new cases to report. The health agency is posting positive test results twice a week — on Mondays and Thursdays. On Monday, Aug. 16, (the last reporting day) 17 cases were reported.

The cases reported today are as follows:

Seventeen cases for the Southern Region (Quincy/Meadow Valley): Eight confirmed on Aug. 17;  four confirmed Aug. 18; and five confirmed today, Aug. 19.

Thirteen cases for the Eastern Region (Graeagle/Portola): Three confirmed on Aug. 17; six confirmed on Aug. 18; and four confirmed today, Aug. 19.

Four cases for the Northern Region (Greenville/Indian Valley): Two cases confirmed Aug. 17, and two cases confirmed today, Aug. 19.

Two cases for the Western Region (Chester/Lake Almanor): Confirmed, Aug. 17.

The total confirmed number of coronavirus cases in the county to date is 902.

There have been some hospitalizations with the increased number of cases in the past few weeks, but no details have been provided via Public Health.

(Plumas News received information from a private source that there was a hospitalization today at Plumas District Hospital from an individual at the evacuation center in Quincy.)

Plumas County does not test for the delta variant. If an individual tests positive, a second swab can be taken and it is sent away for further testing. Because of a backlog, it can take two to three weeks to receive definitive results. Public Health has said that contact tracing has indicated that the delta variant is in Plumas County.
