Be prepared – the snow is really going to fall

Highways 50 and 80 are closed, and Caltrans District 2 is predicting that Highways 36, 44, 70 and 89 will be impacted by the lower snow levels that are forecast for tonight into tomorrow morning. Chains or 4WD with snow changes are already in place.

Moderate to heavy snow is predicted through the beginning of the week, with the greatest amounts falling this evening into Monday. Snow levels are expected to drop as low as 1,000 feet tonight. A winter storm warning is in effect to through Tuesday.

In addition to the snow, strong winds are predicted by the National Weather Service.

Highway 70 was closed earlier today just east of the Greenville Wye due to a traffic collision. The roadway is now fully reopened.
