Beckwourth Complex is now at 104,826 acres, holds at 68 percent containment
The Beckwourth Complex is now at 104,826 acres and 68 percent containment, with much of the southern portion of the Sugar Fire being held in its footprint by crews who are working around the clock to maintain the containment and mop up.
There was a 5,800-acre push that came out of the northern flank of the fire control line at about noon today, which made a run for Highway 395. Crews caught the fire at the highway on the west side and were able to anchor it once more, leading to the current reopening of Highway 395 as of this report.
Dozer lines are laid out and maintained from the Doyle Grade up to the Meadowview Road area, and the systems in the Dixie Mountain Ridge to Ross Canyon are being prepared and tied into the footprint of containment. From Dixie Valley up to Ferris Flat, contingency lines are being laid as a safety net to be used only as needed.
Teams continue to staff the fire around the clock, and residents are encouraged to continue to maintain vigilance and pay attention to any changes in evacuation warnings and orders.
