Chief Bret Russell of the Beckwourth Fire District would like the community in the areas surrounding Beckwourth in Eastern Plumas to be aware that the department will be holding a live fire burn scenario at what is known to many as “the old Fireside building” at 80921 Hwy. 70 in Beckwourth.

The live fire scenario will culminate in burning the facility to the ground, with the training to last from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Beckwourth Fire District has invited Sierra Valley Fire Department and Eastern Plumas Rural Fire Protection District to join in the scenario as mutual aid partners as well.

“We have dotted our i’s and crossed our t’s with every detail of this live burn, and included all of our partners in the planning process,” said Chief Russell. Planning included input from the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Northern Sierra Air Quality Management District (NSAQMD), CalTrans and Plumas County Sheriff Office (PCSO).
