Biggest Soroptimist fundraiser of the year is underway

The Soroptimist International of Quincy (SIQ) members have a sweet and crunchy way of funding all of the good works they do in Plumas County.
Whether it’s for their generous scholarships, annual awards to honor local women or the zany fun of the Easter Egg Hunt, these ladies are dedicated to raising money that goes right back into the community year round.
So sign up now for SIQ’s holiday nuts and candy sales happening in Quincy and Portola just in time for your celebrations.
Deadline to preorder is Monday, Dec. 2, for Christmas and winter holiday events.

You’ll also find sales displays at several local partner businesses in Quincy, Portola and Blairsden.
The Soroptimist philanthropic club offers a wide selection of See’s Candies and assorted nuts and can order pretty much anything you need if they don’t have it on hand.
The holiday nuts and See’s Candies sale is the Soroptimist club’s major fundraiser for the year.
Your support makes it possible for SIQ members to host three scholarships at the high school level (Quincy and Portola included) and the $1,000 “Live Your Dream” scholarship for one Plumas County woman each year to pursue her dreams of education or training.
In addition, the fundraiser supports all of SIQ’s community service projects, including the festive upcoming “Holiday Sing” at the county courthouse, April’s Easter Egg Hunt, the Women of Distinction Awards ceremony each spring, an Angel Tree, the “Dress-A-Girl” sewing program to benefit disadvantaged young girls in 81 countries around the world, and the service-focused S-Club at Quincy Junior-Senior High School.
