Caltrans and CHP: Stay off the roads if at all possible

Caltrans and the CHP have a message for motorists: Stay off the roads if at all possible.

According to Caltrans District 2 most of its roadways saw significant snow overnight and it’s continuing this morning. Several routes are currently closed due to winter weather conditions including Highway 32 and chain controls are in place on almost every route through the district. The message: IF YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE ON THE ROAD TODAY, PLEASE STAY HOME!

For up to date roadway information, visit QuickMap.dot.ca.gov or check its Facebook page.

The Quincy office of the CHP reiterates that message. There is currently a bigrig jackknifed at Indian Falls on Highway 70, with chains and/or snow tires with 4WD required throughout the county.
