Caltrans tells Highway 70 motorists in the Canyon to expect 30 to 60 minute delays

State Route 70 is open to through traffic between Jarbo Gap and the Greenville Wye following closure from the slide near the Butte/Plumas County Line. Debris removal and roadway repairs have been completed and the area was reopened fully to traffic at 4 p.m. yesterday.

Dixie Fire emergency work also continues at various locations in the State Route 70 corridor by Caltrans and its contractors, along with permitted work for PG&E, utility companies, and other agencies. Motorists should currently plan for 30-60 minute delays on Highway 70 between Jarbo Gap and Quincy, Mondays-Saturdays during daytime hours, along with minor delays on Sundays. This work and scheduling are weather dependent and subject to change at any time. Areas of work and delay times in this corridor may change in upcoming months depending on agencies involved and areas of work needed to be completed following the Dixie Fire.

Motorists are reminded that the slide location has experienced multiple periods of activity since the initial event and more inclement, winter weather is expected in the coming months. Motorists should also be cognizant of burn scar areas along State Route 70 from the Dixie Fire and possible effects from inclement weather periods.
