Caltrans updates Plumas delays as PG&E undergrounds power lines
As PG&E continues to underground its power lines, Plumas County is the recipient of much of that work. Caltrans provided an update on the projects underway and those that will begin soon:
Bucks Creek: Work is underway on Highway 70, east of the Butte/Plumas County Line to west of Tobin for infrastructure undergrounding. Motorists should plan for 24/7 traffic control with 15-minute delays, weather and incident permitting. (Please note a current cumulative delay of 45 minutes on Highway 70 between Jarbo Gap and the Greenville Wye is due to continued emergency restoration efforts west of Belden and current work between Belden and Twain for the Plumas 70 Restoration Project)
Big Meadows: Undergrounding work has gone into winter suspension on State Route 89 between Canyon Dam and Greenville. Work and delays are currently planned to re-start in the spring of 2023.
Future PG&E undergrounding projects in Plumas County include:
Highway 70
– Bucks Creek (2): West of Tobin to east of Belden
– Grays Flat: West of Twain
– Gansner: Between the Greenville Wye and Keddie
Highway 89
– Spanish Creek: Near Indian Falls and Moccasin
