Chester High Interact plans new year
The newly elected officers of the Chester Jr./Sr. High School Interact Club held their first general meeting Monday, Sept. 9.
The main purpose of the gathering was to invite new members into the group and to lay out a general plan for upcoming service projects.
Toward the first goal (new members) and with the meeting being held at noon, the Rotary Club of Chester arrived with several extra large pizzas and an ice chest full of sodas to entice attendance and satisfy teen appetites.
With about a dozen students in attendance, Interact President Hannah Snyder brought the meeting to order and after the normal club business, presented a review of the annual events Interact supports, including crossing guards for Merchants Trick-or-treat, Purple Pinky Day for Polio, care packages for the troops, and egg stuffing and distribution for the Rotary Easter Egg Hunt.
Besides serving their community, the members also accumulate service hours for their work.
Snyder then asked for suggestions from the new members about possible new projects, fundraisers and events.
Several new ideas were offered and noted for further discussion at future meetings.
After lots of good dialog and the disappearance of several pizzas, the meeting was adjourned right at the bell.
