Children and families invited to make thank you posters for firefighters

Children are invited to bring their families to the Quincy High School cafeteria on Thursday, Aug. 5 from 4 – 7 p.m. to make thank you cards and notes, posters, yard signs and sign a giant banner in appreciation for all the firefighters and first responders protecting Plumas County.

Banners will be hung, cards will be hand delivered to fire camps and yard signs given to our young artists to display all over town!

“Arts and Crafts is just one way to show how much we care, but it is a wonderful outlet for children who, over the last year and a half, have endured more than some of us have in our entire lives.  So, the event is two-fold:  to show support for those who are putting themselves in harm’s way to save our community AND provide an outlet of expression for children to express their gratitude, share stories with their friends and be together in community.”
If you’d like to help out, organizers have a list of things they are still seeking:
  • Small financial contribution/sponsorship for supplies
  • Individually wrapped cookies or snacks
  • Folks with professional experience to be on hand for chat with kids and families
  • Donated art supplies to include construction paper, glue, tape, crayons, sparkly stuff, crafting supplies, scissors, markers etc…
  • Music
  • Help with set up and clean-up
  • People (older kiddos or adults) to be at each art station
  • Poster board
  • Construction paper
Special thanks (so far) to Plumas Unified School District for use of the Cafeteria and those who have already offered to contribute supplies.  For information, please contact Lisa Kelly at 775-232-9536 or Nancy Gambell at 530-927-7473 or email [email protected].
