Chili cook-off comes to Graeagle

Fall is in the air and what better way to welcome the season than with a chili cook-off.

Mohawk Community Resource Center will be hosting a chili cook-off Saturday, Nov. 2, from 5 – 7 p.m. Enjoy some chili tasting, along with some cornbread, and cast your vote for the Chili Cook-off Champion!

Tickets are limited, cost $15 and are available at MCRC, located at the corner of highways 89 and 70 near the Corner Barn in Blairsden.

Mohawk Community

Art Faire

MCRC will end the month of November by hosting the 2019 Mohawk Community Art Faire being held Friday and Saturday, Nov. 29 – 30, at the Graeagle Fire Hall. A Graeagle holiday tradition for over 30 years, the event features the work of local artisans, whose work includes handmade jewelry, textiles, woodcrafts, photography, knit and crochet items, body care, quality crafts and gifts. All proceeds from these two activities will benefit MCRC.

MCRC relies heavily on its volunteers to be able to present these activities, all of which help to keep the center operational. Volunteers are needed to serve on the advisory board, assist in fundraising activities, cover office duties and assist in serving Wednesday senior lunches. These are just a few of the ways in which one can volunteer at MCRC. Contact MCRC at 836-0446 to volunteer.

The Mohawk Community Resource Center is a service of Plumas Rural Services, and serves to enrich the lives of the residents and visitors of the surrounding communities in a friendly atmosphere. A variety of activities take place at the center daily.

For more information about MCRC and these events, call 836-0446, or visit www.PlumasRuralServices.org/mcrc .
