The following incidents are submitted by the Quincy Area California Highway Patrol as a tentative summary pending the conclusion of the investigation(s).
Two-car collision, Dec. 5
At about 7:35 a.m., Adam Kammerer, a 22-year-old resident of Galt, was driving a 2005 Ford F150 on westbound Highway 70 near Phillips Road at a speed of 65 to 70 mph. At the same time Nicole Kelly, 79, of Blairsden, was driving her 2017 Subaru Outback eastbound on Highway 70. Her rate of speed was 60 mph.
Kammerer lost control of his Ford and struck a metal guardrail, which propelled him into the eastbound lane where he collided with a metal guardrail. After hitting the guardrail, he was traveling directly into the path of Kelly’s vehicle. She was unable to take evasive action to avoid the collision. The Ford and the Subaru collided in the eastbound lane. Following the collision the Subaru caught fire. The fire was extinguished by a party on scene.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts. Kammerer was unharmed. Kelly was treated for moderate injuries at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this collision. The cause of the accident is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
