The following incidents are submitted by the Quincy Area California Highway Patrol as a tentative summary pending the conclusion of the investigation(s).
Major injury accident, June 9
At about 3:30 p.m., three minors, all of Reno, were driving a 1978 Jeep southbound on an unmarked dirt road south of Osprey Loop, north of Highway 89, near the west shore of Lake Almanor. For unknown reasons, the driver allowed the Jeep to leave the road to the right, where the vehicle collided with a tree.
The rear passenger was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the Jeep. He was later transported to Seneca Hospital in Chester via ambulance for major injuries.
The front passenger was wearing his lap belt and was later transported to Enloe Medical Center in Chico via CHP helicopter for major injuries.
The driver was also wearing his lap belt and later transported to Enloe Medical Center via Enloe Care flight helicopter for major injuries.
The cause of this collision remains under investigation. Drugs and or alcohol are not considered factors.
