The Plumas-Sierra Political Coalition is sponsoring a Community Climate Change Event on Sunday, Sept. 22, from 1 to 3 p.m., on the courthouse steps in Quincy.
The event will coincide with the worldwide global “Climate Strike” scheduled Sept. 20 through 27. This strike was organized as a show of support for Greta Thunberg, the 16-year-old Swedish climate change activist who has caught the attention of the world by demanding that adults take action to stop the destructive effects of climate change.
Thunberg said that “Climate Change is the biggest crisis humanity has ever faced,” and that it is the duty of adults, particularly those in power, to find solutions to mitigate and reverse climate change. They must take action to protect the health of our planet for future generations. Her fight has focused on the rights of young people to inherit a healthy world. Millions of supporters have rallied to her cause. For more information, visit democracynow.org/2019/8/29/greta_thunberg_nyc_climate_activists.
This community event will feature speakers, information tables and resources for children’s climate activities. Organizers invite youth and people of all ages to attend.
