Collins closes forest lands to public due to wildfire threat
California has experienced devastating fires during the last 17 days and wildfire conditions continue to be at an extreme level, threatening peoples’ lives and property. Because of the level of fire risk and the threat to human safety, Collins Pine Company (Collins) closed its lands to public use until further notice. The closure went into effect Sept. 4.
The closure includes all Collins lands in California and Oregon. Public roads on Collins will remain open, but use of Collins privately owned lands will not be allowed.
“Over the years, Collins has been proud to keep its lands open to public use, but in some cases we think it’s prudent to close the lands. It’s our duty to be good stewards of the land and that means we have to take measures to increase public safety and prevent fires,” said Collins CEO Eric Schooler.
