Collins Pine trail work continues with new volunteers
Steve Fleming, Almanor Recreation and Park District Trails Committee coordinator, recognized two new “Trailblazers,” Bruce Potts and Wes Scott, who joined the team Sept. 30 to help in the restoration of the Collins Pine Trail in Chester.
“Their contribution along with our other volunteers is greatly appreciated,” Fleming said. “Our trail team accomplished a lot of very fine work,” adding that the Phase 1 loop is now completed (of seven phases), with additional progress being made on the watercourse crossing bridges, signposts and signage, all of which is underway in design and installation.
The next trail outing is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 21, at 9 a.m. Volunteers can meet at the ARPD Building, 101 Meadowbrook Loop, just west of the Truman-Collins Complex baseball field, at 9 a.m. Work will continue till 11 a.m. Bring your favorite rake, hoe, and other hand tools, and heavy-duty gloves and hat.
