Community orchestra holds free Christmas concert

Face the Music Studio and the Central Plumas Recreation District announced that the High Sierra Community Orchestra would hold its fourth annual free Christmas concert.

The concert will be held Thursday, Dec. 19, at the West End Theatre. Doors will open at 5 p.m. with the concert at 5:30 p.m.

This year’s music will feature many classical pieces by noteworthy composers including Tchaikovsky’s “Capriccio Italien” and “Waltz of the Flowers,” Mozart’s “Sleigh Ride,” Bach’s “Jesu Joy of Man’s Desire,” and a energetic Spanish piece called “The Quest.”

The 26-piece orchestra will also be performing popular holiday favorites such as “Winter Wonderland,” “Parade of the Wooden Soldiers,” Shalom Chaverine,” “What Child is This” and a few other rocking selections.

Celebrate the joy of the holidays with an hour filled with beautiful music played by Plumas County’s most talented musicians, young and old.
