DA shares tips to protect oneself during the rebuilding process
Plumas County District Attorney David Hollister warns residents to beware during the rebuilding process and supplies a resource to ensure that they can protect themselves.
“After disasters, unfortunately, some unscrupulous characters will prey on those most in need,” Hollister said. “One place we see these scams is from unlicensed contractors or others trying commit fraud during the rebuilding phase. To help protect our community, I am working with the Contractors State License Board (CSLB) to have a task force assigned to Plumas County.”
Members of this task force will be in Plumas County this week posting signage to help those impacted by the fires avoid becoming the victim of fraud during the rebuild phase. In addition, and in cooperation with the Plumas County DA’s Office, the CSLB has prepared a four-page flyer which is incredibly instructive in helping residents understand their rights and avoid scams during the rebuild phase.
In addition to Plumas News, this flyer can be found on the DA’s webpage at https://www.plumascounty.us/1889/District-Attorney. Should you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact the DA’s office at 530-283-6303.
