Dame Shirley tree work rescheduled

Tree removal and trimming originally scheduled for Dec. 10, 2019, at the Dame Shirley Plaza in Quincy has been rescheduled.

“The trees that were supposed to be gone already at Dame Shirley Plaza are scheduled to be removed the weekend of Jan. 18-19, Plumas County Facility Services Director Kevin Correira announced Jan. 10.

Correira requested that Administrative Officer Gabriel Hydrick have those who leave vehicles in the Dame Shirley parking lot to move them for that weekend.

A public meeting was held last year in which Hydrick, Correira and others discussed the condition of trees within that park. Before the meeting at least one large limb broke off one tree and crashed down near a table intended for picnickers.

As trees are removed there are plans in the works for new trees to be planted.
