Dawn Pipes

Dawn Pipes, age 54, of Portola, CA, passed away unexpectedly on January 2nd, 2023.

Dawn was born in Redwood City to Sharon (Aldridge) Kaufman on August 16th, 1968. She spent her childhood growing up in the Bay Area before moving to Boise, Idaho, where she graduated high school and fell in love with her high school sweetheart for the first time. She attended college for a short time before traveling to New York to be a Nanny.

Eventually, she and her mom moved to Reno and from there to Portola with her young daughter.

She has called Plumas County home for the last 30 years of her life. She graduated from Feather River College and spent her time raising her daughter.

She recently had reconnected with her high school sweetheart and they had found happiness with each other. She also adored kids and always had a gaggle of children that knew her as either Momma Dawn or Auntie. Most of all though, she loved her granddaughters.

She was a beautiful and kind soul who will be missed by so many.

She is survived by her only child Bethany Pipes (Dennis Hernandez), her granddaughters Zoey and Lily, her siblings Lynn and Bud Beery, her loving partner John Goodson, and many other family and friends who loved her dearly.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Sharon Kaufman and James Beery and her stepparents Joe Kaufman and Evelyn Beery (Kelly).

Services to be held February 25th, 2023, at Portola United Methodist Church at 1pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
