Donna Jean Fowler
Donna Jean Fowler, age 93, passed on March 12th, 2023, at Seneca Long Term facility in Chester, CA.
Donna was born in Sydney, Montana, May 29, 1929, to Earl and Edith Pederson. She is preceded in death by her husband Giles Fowler, parents, and four brothers, Donald, Harold, Robert, and Phillip Pedersen.
She moved to Savage, Montana, when she was a baby where her family had a grocery store. At the age of 10 they moved to Oakland, CA, and then on to Fremont, CA. At the age of 22 she had her own restaurant in Berkley and met her first husband Roy Knott. They lived in Berkley for a short time and then moved to Spenard, Alaska, where she resided for 5 years.
When she was 27, she and her husband divorced and she moved to Cloverdale, CA, to help her mother run her restaurant, Scandia. It was while working at Scandia that she met the love of her life, Giles Fowler. Donna and Giles were married for 37 years and enjoyed many years buying, remolding, and selling older homes before retiring to Lake Almanor. While living at Lake Almanor they enjoyed many summers fishing on the lake while spending winters in Yuma, AZ. In addition to fishing during the summers Donna learned the art of making pine needle baskets. She created hundreds of beautiful pine needle baskets that she sold in Yuma at craft fairs and gave away to friends. While in Yuma, Donna also developed a love for silver smithing. She spent many years creating and selling beautiful sterling silver jewelry and spending time in the dessert rock hunting.
Donna leaves behind stepdaughters, Patricia Spitzer and Susan Christensen, many nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren. In addition, she leaves behind, what she referred to as, her ‘adopted grandchildren’ Mike and Ryan Hansen.
At Donna’s wishes there will be no services or celebration of life.
