Dramaworks offers youth theatre programs for the fall

By Meg Upton

As summer winds down and the school year starts, dramaworks and West End Theatre are happy to announce the youth drama programs they will be starting in the last week of August.

“We sing, we dance, we act, but most of all we have fun! We’re excited to announce that we will be starting a drama program for teens in addition to our Magic Beanstalk Player program,” said executive director Danielle Plocki.

Registration is open for the Magic Beanstalk Player program (grades K- through second). Kindergarten through second grade classes will be Tuesdays, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., beginning Aug. 30. Grades third through sixth classes will be held on Thursdays, 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., starting Sept. 1.

Sierra West End Educational Theatre Program is our newly reimagined acting and production class for teens in grades seventh through twelfth. Registration is also open for this brand new class—a new version of SWEET taught by Margaret Elysia Garcia of Pachuca Productions. Classes will be Wednesdays, 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., starting Aug. 31. “After teaching drama both in the prison system and with students in Pachuca Productions, it’s an honor to be working with local students once again,” said Garcia. Garcia plans on three to four performance opportunities for students this fall.

“We look forward to seeing your drama student this fall semester,” said Plocki. For more information call (530) 283-1956 or email to [email protected].
