Elliott Johnson-Smart Scholarship awarded to deserving drama student
The dramaworks’ Magic Beanstalk Player program announced Emily Choate is this year’s recipient of the Elliott Johnson Smart Scholarship.
Director Danielle Wagner Plocki states, “Emily is so deserving of this award. She has been a participant in the Magic Beanstalk Player program for eight years. She shows 100 percent dedication and commitment to the program and to improving herself as an actor. In addition to the Magic Beanstalk Player Program, she also participates in dramaworks’ community theatre productions both on stage and behind the scenes by learning lighting and sound. In drama class, she is an excellent role model to the younger students, has a great attitude, and is always willing to help out.”
Emily will be playing the role of Peter Pan in the Magic Beanstalk Player’s upcoming production of Peter Pan JR.
The Elliott Johnson Smart Scholarship was created last year by Elliott’s family and contributed to by many loving friends, family and community members. In the spirit of Elliott Smart’s memory and his love of theater, the scholarship is awarded to one student each year that has demonstrated exemplary performance, enthusiasm and dedication to the The Magic Beanstalk Player youth drama program.
